Water transport plays a crucial role in the large-scale, long-distance transportation of goods. With the world's highest number of automated terminals, all coal for the "North-to-South Coal Transport" initiative is now shipped to ports by rail, and over 90% of coastal mainline hub ports are equipped with shore power facilities. In recent years, waterway transport in China has been developing rapidly. Data shows that in the first half of this year, waterway freight volume reached 4.7 billion tons, a 6.3% increase year-on-year.
This demonstrates the strong support of rail-water intermodal transport, enhanced effectiveness through intelligent technologies, and improved services through transformation and upgrading, highlighting the current advancements in water transport development.
